Claude Code
Point Claude Code at PlayOn MCP to install games and manage servers from the terminal.
Claude Code can use PlayOn’s HTTP MCP endpoint. Overview: External agents (MCP).
Before you start
- Install PlayOn and create the Owner.
- Mint a PAT under Settings → External agents (MCP) — see MCP overview.
Configure Claude Code
Add PlayOn as an MCP server using the URL + Bearer token from Settings. Exact file/UI labels vary by Claude Code version; the connection shape is:
- Transport: Streamable HTTP / URL-based MCP
- URL:
http://<host>:8787/mcp(or your origin +/mcp) - Header:
Authorization: Bearer <token>
Example JSON many clients accept:
{
"mcpServers": {
"playon": {
"url": "http://<host>:8787/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer playon_…"
}
}
}
}
Reload MCP servers after saving.
Example asks
Use PlayOn to install Minecraft from the catalog, create a server, start it, publish the player panel, and print the /play link.
Snapshot the Minecraft server, then restart it.
Tips
- Run Claude Code where it can reach the PlayOn host.
- Confirm prompts may appear in the PlayOn UI unless the token has auto-approve enabled.
- Prefer a dedicated token named “Claude Code” so you can revoke it later without disturbing other clients.
